11:00 Arrival in Gyumri The far North-East of the country is famous for Gyumri. It is an urban municipal community and the second largest city in Armenia, serving as the administrative center of Shirak Province in the northwestern part of the country. By the end of the 19th century, it was one of the largest cities of Russian-ruled Eastern Armenia with a population like that of Yerevan. The city's population grew above 200,000 prior to the 1988 Spitak earthquake, when it was devastated.
11:00-13:00 City Tour in Gyumri, the second biggest city of Armenia. Archaeological excavations conducted throughout the Soviet period have shown that the area of modern-day Gyumri has been populated since at least the third millennium BC. The area was mentioned as Kumayri in the historic Urartian inscriptions dating back to the 8th century BC. The city is also unique with its 18th-to-19th century urban architecture. The first half of the day will allow you to enjoy the unprecedented atmosphere of the city.
13:00-14:30 Lunch The restaurants of Gyumri are also gastronomically unique, so the amazing lunch is also guaranteed!
15:00-17:30 Continue City Tour (including the "Seven Wounds" church, Church of ·the Holy Savior, Main Square, etc.) The residents of Gyumri are widely known as conservative people. Traditions and local customs are widely preserved by the local citizens. It is very common among Armenians to refer to the dignity of Gyumri. Gyumri is considered to be the "laughter and humor capital" of Armenia. Though the city laid in ruins after the1988 Armenian Earthquake, it managed to preserve many museums and monuments. The Seven Wounds church, for example, is the only church that was not closed down during the Soviet times. The second part of the trip is going to be just as captivating.
