➊ Baghaberd fortress is a medieval castle located in the province of Syunik, in southern Armenia. The tour to Baghaberd typically starts in the morning from the city of Goris, which is about 50 km away from the fortress. After leaving Goris, the tour heads towards the Vorotan Gorge, passing through picturesque landscapes and small villages.
Once at Baghaberd, visitors can explore the fortress, which was built in the 4th century and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. ➋ After the lovely lunch and some well-deserved rest at the hotel, the trip will then take you deeper into the Shikahogh Preserve, the biggest in the country. It is home to a number of endemic tree species and animals, some of which are at the verge of extinction. Among the beautiful hiking trails, the reserve offers, the most stunning place is perhaps the Platanus Park inside the reserve. The sixty-hectare territory was created for the preservation of the Oriental Plain, a deciduous tree believed to come from the Balkans. The beauty of the forest will surely leave you amazed.
